When: Wednesday and Sunday at 2:00 pm.
Bumbee Ball was designed for fun only. It’s a chance to get out and spend time with friends, get some exercise, and share some laughs. We want everyone to feel comfortable and not feel intimidated by aggressive play. We would appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping this a fun, friendly, “Back Yard” “Fourth of July”, kind of game.
This year the racquets and balls are provided by the USTA Southwest Section grant. We are using Head / Penn Racquet Sports Equipment. Grant #1 was fulfilled on July 6 with equipment being provided to the Casa Grande Recreation department. The racquets are used during the summer for the Casa Grande Sumer Tennis Clinic at Carr McNatt Park.
1. Elect which team will serve.
2. You can only score when your team is serving.
3. You need 11 points to win the game with a lead of 2 points.
4. The serve is taken from anywhere behind the service line.
5. The serve is played underarm with one bounce or may be gently served in the air.
6. The serve has to go over the net and bounce once on the other side before play starts.
7. On the serve, if the ball tips the net and falls into the opponent’s court, the serve is taken over. This is called a let service.
8. When the ball is in play, each team tries to hit the ball over the net by the 1st, 2nd, or 3rdhit.
9. The same person cannot hit 2 balls in succession.
10. The ball cannot be played off the net.
11. You may have 1 bounce between each hit or the ball can be played in the air.
12. The ball may not bounce over the net. It must be hit over to be legal.
13. When a team who is serving misses a hit, the serve goes to the opposing team who rotate clockwise to new positions. Play continues with a new server. Similar to volleyball.
14. The ball has to land with the perimeter of the court. Any part of the ball on the line is deemed good.

Our tennis club was founded in 1990 by a group of passionate tennis players who wanted to create a game that beyond competitive tennis could be played by those that no longer could play tennis or pickleball. As said above the game is to be an activity and social in nature. We are offering a step up game call Red Ball this year with takes Bumbee to another level using the same equipment.
